Kosta Karakashyan is a director, producer, choreographer, and writer whose work spans film, dance, and immersive performance, driven by a commitment to empathy and socially engaged themes such as LGBTQ+ rights, mental health, and the climate crisis. His multidisciplinary projects have been featured internationally and highlighted by outlets like NOWNESS, The New Yorker, The Guardian, and ELLE. An alumnus of Berlinale Talents, a Forbes Europe 30 Under 30 honoree, and a member of the European Film Academy, he is recognized for blending visceral choreography with cinematic storytelling. A graduate of Columbia University and the Global Campus of Human Rights, he also served as a Bulgarian Youth Delegate to the UN (2023–2024). His documentary WAITING FOR COLOR, addressing LGBTQ+ persecution in Chechnya, won multiple international awards and received wide media attention.


Karakashyan & Artists, founded in 2021 and led by choreographer and filmmaker Kosta Karakashyan, is a multidisciplinary Bulgarian dance company creating immersive, socially engaged performances. Working across dance, theatre, film, food, and literature, the company transforms both conventional and unconventional locations such as kitchens, landfills, public spaces, and warehouses into sites for emotionally charged, audience-centered experiences.
