Work presented at the Moving Balkans Showcase 2026: Mockumentary
Adrijana Danchevska Rovchanin is a Macedonian choreographer and dancer. Trained at DMBUC “Ilija Nikolovski-Luj” and the University of Audiovisual Arts ESRA Skopje–Paris–New York, she has been a key figure in shaping contemporary dance in North Macedonia and beyond. A longtime collaborator with the Skopje Dance Theater, she has created acclaimed works such as Symbol, D.O.L., Home, Don’t Touch My Eyes, and The Remix, often blending multimedia, movement, and social themes to explore human experience, identity, and collective memory.
Her choreographies have been presented internationally at festivals in Croatia, Latvia, China, Slovakia, the Netherlands, and the USA, and she has also worked as a performer with projects by Yukio Suzuki and others. In 2023, she contributed to Prayers of My Body at the National Opera and Ballet and premiered Mockumentary during the Week of Macedonian Choreography. Adrijana is also a co-founder of Tanc Bunker and the contemporary dance festival Tanc Bunker – Platform 01, supporting the next generation of Macedonian dance artists.
Skopje Dance Theater, founded in 2011 by Prof. Dr. Risima Risimkin, is North Macedonia’s first contemporary dance company. Known for its bold aesthetics and innovative choreography, the company has created over 40 works and performed extensively across Europe, Asia, and the USA.
