OPEN CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN WORKSHOP FOR CHOREOGRAPHY IN BUCHAREST

7–12 April 2025, Bucharest


Do you have at least two years of professional experience in contemporary dance and are interested in improvement and meeting colleagues from abroad? We invite you to apply for a six-day choreography workshop in Bucharest, organized as part of the European project Moving Balkans.

The workshop will host 27 young dancers from Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Greece, North Macedonia, Turkiye, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo* and Romania.


The National Centre for Dance Bucharest (the host organization) will financially cover the workshop, travel expenses and accommodation.


ABOUT THE WORKSHOP The program is designed as a laboratory/masterclasses, running each day from April 7 to 12, from 10 am to 4 pm. It will include group meetings and classes of interdisciplinary techniques, composition, text and visual dramaturgy, and artistic-research process. The Workshop will offer emerging choreographers the tools to develop and deepen their own artistic practice and exchange knowledge in a multicultural environment.


You will be mentored by:

Patricia Apergi (GR) - choreographer, director of Aerites dance company,

Rita Góbi (HU) - dancer choreographer, dance teacher, founder of Góbi Dance Company,

Joana Leśnierowska (PL) - freelance choreography curator, visual dramaturg, light & space composer, performance maker,

Mădălina Dan (RO) - choreographer, performer, dance teacher,

Simona Deaconescu (RO) - choreographer and filmmaker working across genres and formats.


ABOUT THE APPLICATION

We are inviting applications from individuals with at least two years of stage experience as performers who are also emerging choreographers with at least one publicly presented work. There is no age limit.

 

Applicants must have permanent residence in following countries: Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Greece, North Macedonia, Turkiye, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo* and Romania.





*This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244/1999 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.
