As part of the Moving Balkans project, the Croatian Cultural Centre (HKD) from Rijeka (Croatia) has completed VR filming of Saline Nebula, one of the performances selected for the 2025 programme. The work, authored by Bulgarian choreographers Stanislav Genadiev and Violeta Vitanova, was filmed in virtual reality in the impressive interior of the engine room of a historical ship Galeb in Rijeka’s harbor.
Following post-production, the VR version of Saline Nebula will tour across the Moving Balkans dance platform countries – Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Rijeka premiere is planned as part of the Port of Dance contemporary dance festival at the end of April.
The Bulgarian–Slovenian–Rijeka VR team consisted of choreographers Stanislav Genadiev and Violeta Vitanova, dancer Marion Darova, director Enya Belak, VR videographer Igor Crnković (Pilot Media), sound artist Ivo Vicić, and light technicians Sanjin Valić and Željko Dešić (HKD). The recording was produced by the Croatian Cultural Centre (HKD), with the support of the Rijeka City Museum, within the Moving Balkans project co-financed by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme.
