Ivana Balabanova is a North Macedonian artist intertwining urban and contemporary dance. A recipient of the Excellence Scholarship at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), her works are known for their experimental approach and striking visuals.
Her acclaimed solo Code #9 won the 3rd Jury Prize at MASDANZA (2022) and continues to tour internationally. Other works include Her own space (2022), Liminal Body (2023), my blood, my politics (2023), Remembering the Future (2024), performed across Europe and beyond.
Balabanova’s awards include multiple urban dance championships and the Youth Civic Engagement Award. She has participated in residencies like Tanzplan Ost (Liechtenstein) and Konzerttheater St.Gallen. Currently, she is developing her new creation, YUGO, set for 2025/2026.
