Work presented at the Moving Balkans Showcase 2026: Somatic Freaks – The Proprioceptors Revolution

Alexandra Mihaela Dancs and Vlad Benescu are independent contemporary dance artists who began collaborating in 2022. Their work explores balance, somatic awareness, and the impact of digital culture on movement, often through interdisciplinary and site-specific projects.

Alexandra has danced in works by leading contemporary choreographers, developed solo projects, and created choreography for theatre, while Vlad has performed internationally, works as a unicycle acrobat and lighting designer, and holds a PhD in Theatre and Performing Arts.

Together, they have created Luați de VAL…s (2022), Tura de noapte (2024), Somatic Freaks – The Proprioceptors Revolution (2024), and triluREELu (2025), exploring physicality, perception, and social commentary. Both have been danceWEB scholars at ImpulsTanz Vienna and participated in numerous international residencies. Their collaboration continues to investigate movement, play, and risk with a distinct experimental approach.
